Ugly Girl

You can put puzzles back
together
Cars that have been
disassembled
Tonka toys that sat in a
box
A quilt just patch up when
scissored
Glue together some shoes when
split
But when you call a girl an
ugly girl
Its different you have to be
tender
You can’t patch up a feeling on
to her
Sew up a torn emotion that is
swollen
Damage control of an ugly girl begins
with you
Tell your daughter no matter her tiny flaw
she’s beautiful
That flaw is in YOU only that you never got
fixed
You’re just letting it rip into her and
will never patch
